At Smiles By Stutman, a great smile is always in style. To maintain healthy, beautiful teeth, we typically recommend visiting our office for a dental exam and cleaning every 6 months. However, this frequency may vary depending on your risk of periodontal disease.

As an established patient, your dental exam & cleaning appointment will take about 40-60 minutes and be an enjoyable and educational experience. We’ll provide a gentle examination and cleaning, answer all your questions, and ensure you leave feeling confident in your dental care and the future of your smile.

Are you a new patient over 21 years old? Your cleaning will be scheduled as a follow-up appointment based on the results of your initial dental exam.

A dental exam & cleaning appointment includes...

1. High-tech dental x-rays
Advanced x-rays of your mouth help reveal tooth decay, jaw bone issues, and other dental health concerns. Our high-tech digital x-rays are very comfortable and use a safe amount of radiation.

2. Thorough dental examination
Your dentist will conduct a comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums, and jaw, reviewing your bite and risk of gum disease and tooth decay. We’ll also check your tongue and gums for early signs of oral cancer and discuss your x-ray findings. You’ll have unhurried time with your dentist to ask questions and discuss any oral health concerns and treatment options.

3. Gentle teeth cleaning
Based on the health of your teeth and gums, our experienced and friendly hygienists will gently clean your teeth and gums, demonstrating proper brushing technique and flossing habits. They can also offer valuable home dental care advice.

Our patient-first approach means every exam and cleaning is personalized to fit your specific needs. We’ll listen to your questions or concerns, evaluate your dental health, and adjust your care accordingly. Note: For new adult patients, exams and cleanings are scheduled as 2 separate visits. This allows the dentist to conduct a thorough review of your dental health before determining what type of cleaning best fits your needs.
